“Regular servicing is the key to keeping your machine fit for

service over the long term.”

THE BENEFITS OF REGULAR MAINTENANCE:

•  Increase and make full use of the lifetime of your machinery:
Regular function tests and inspections for wear maintain the

maximum functional reliability of the machinery.

•  Improve operational safety:
Machinery inspections identify in good time whether all safety-

relevant components are working properly and reflect best
engineering practices.

•  Increase plant availability:
Replacing wearing parts, such as filters and fluids, checking

geometries, etc., is particularly important to maintain functional
reliability and prevent downtimes.

•  Early identification of problems:
Spot problems in good time, before they start causing them.

•  Advance budgeting:
Plan upcoming machine repairs in plenty of time based on accurate

status reports.

WE OFFER:

•  Highly qualified technicians
•  Geometry checks and adjustments
•  Replacement of all filters and media
•  Inspection of wearing parts and status report
•  Machine status report and maintenance recommendations
•  The right service packages for each type of machine

We recommend six-monthly maintenance with pre-

MAINTENANCE

INFORMATION ON PROTECTION AND SAFETY

Important safety information that you should not neglect.

Protection and safety.
Information on key topics.

•  Protective screens
•  Hydraulic hoses

Protecting and ensuring the safety of processes and staff are key
elements, which is why we want to draw your attention to existing
guidelines and recommendations.

Age and wear can increase the safety risk of many components.
This information should be observed in order to avoid hazards and
shutdowns. We can replace numerous components that no longer
reflect the state of technology fairly quickly, thus ensuring that your
machining centre is again risk-free and reflects best engineering
practices.

"The safety of your staff must

always be your top priority."

18

19

HYDRAULIC HOSES

PROTECTIVE WINDOW

Hydraulic hoses naturally age during use. This ageing process
alters the material and composite properties and impairs the per-
formance capabilities of the hoses.

•  Cracks can appear in aged hoses.

•  Oil can then spurt out, causing injuries and fires!

•   Replacing hoses as a precautionary measure enhances machine

and staff safety and machine availability considerably!

The trade association specifies a

maximum permissible lifetime

of two years

for hoses that are exposed to increased stress.

Pursuant to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, protective windows
are classified as guards and safety components.
Cooling lubricants can cause the protective windows to become
brittle – an effect that is usually not visible but which drastically
impairs the window’s retention capabilities.

•   To ensure unrestricted safety, protective windows should be re-

placed every two years unless otherwise specified.

•   Damaged  protective  windows (cracks, lubricant penetration, etc.)

must be replaced immediately!

Adhere to the specified intervals for replacing protective

windows.

BGR 237 Lifetime of hydraulic hoses

MAINTENANCE

Replacing a protective windows takes about one hour and
could be performed during an inspection of your Handtmann
machine.

Do not ignore the need to replace hydraulic hoses.

If planned

in good time, our service technicians can replace them during
an inspection, for example. As such, the replacement is

predictable and reduces unscheduled machine shutdowns.
